Rock Fishing

In the fall when the rivers dry up, the fish are concentrated into pools and short riffles.  The kids have a custom of working together to scare the fish down stream until they essentially have them cornered. They throw rocks in the water to scare the fish, and sometimes hit the fish and stun them.  The most common fish in the river running through town is the graylng.

Seems convenient, but kind of like hitting them when they're down. hi fish - you have no where to go, your water is almost dried up, lets throw rocks at you! =D

Its very neat tho. Enjoy the snow!

Well, if the fish stay in the river... they will die as it dries up! Or the bears or Foxes will come and eat them. So isn't it better if the people eat them? That way we are not flying in food from fairbanks and releasing more fossil fuels...

This is true. But then if you let the animals eat them, you would have delicious plump caribou... mmmm...
